The Ones That Got Away #11

A classic image from Mantis reminding us that while we were all blethering on and on (and on) about our new iPods, children continued to die of starvation in Africa every day.

Oh Banksy, you make me happy and sad in equal quantities.

I love Kate Moss.

And I love you.

Except you wanted 2 grand for this at Santa’s Ghetto.

The print that spawned a thousand imitations: http://bit.ly/1GpQIy.

And one which earned it’s maker, Shepard Fairey, a personal thank you from Obama.

Nice.

For you Shepard.

But not for me.

They sold out quicker than I could say ‘Nobel Peace Prize. Already. For what exactly?’

DO’H, DO’H, DO’H, DO’H, DO’H.

Nothing enigmatic about this one. I wasn’t sure about it at the time and now I wish I’d bought it.

Merde.

Most of Dolk’s early work, before he went bananas, is really strong and I absolutely love Burger King (although I’m a McDonalds man as far as breakfasts are concerned).

All of which is immaterial, since I failed to pick one up.

I only hope Charlie’s pain of waiting to be King is significantly less than the pain I feel every day as I look at the blank space on my wall reserved for Dolk’s finest print to date.

The Ones That Got Away #6

I’m a bit tired and emotional today after a heavy weekend, which is probably why I’m not feeling anything about anything tonight, despite hours of surfing.

So, to make myself feel even worse, I’m going to post up another installment of TOTGA.

Winding me up this week is Egyptian artist Kareem Lofty, who had the audacity to sell out of these lovely ladies quicker than you can say ‘Let’s be realistic now mate, even if I wanted to sell my bird to you for 20,000 camels, there’s no way my neighbours are going to tolerate them spitting and farting all night in the communal bathroom’.

I can still hear him. Weeping in his cardboard tube.

“Buy me, please buy me. I’m the last one, all alone in this makeshift Xmas Ghetto on Berwick Street.”

But I didn’t.

I bought HMV vouchers, socks and a half-price autobiography instead.

Nice one Saatchi.
